What is technology about?
It is the use of practical and intellectual resources to develop products and
systems.
.
Why study technology?
Students learn practical skills as they develop models, products and systems.
|
|
How is the learning structured?
The learning area comprises three strands:
Technological Practice
:
Students examine the practice of
others and undertake their own. They develop a range of outcomes,
including concepts, plans, briefs,
technological models, and products or systems.
Technological Knowledge
:
Students develop their knowledge and understandings of how and why things work.
Nature of Technology
:
Students investigate technology and its impact on society.

FEES FOR MATERIALS
A fee is charged for materials students use
during their time at the Technology Centre:
- your child's school will request and collect these.
- occasionally we may need to charge a little more to meet a special request from your child.
|
SAFETY
Please ensure that your child:
- wears safe footwear (no thongs, sandals or bare feet please).
- has long hair tied back.
|
|
|

Earthquake Procedure
In the event of an earthquake while your child is at KWNS Technology Centre, procedures set by KWNS will be followed.
If it is not possible for students to return to their base school, they would remain at KWNS, supervised by their teacher and Technology staff.
Students would be released to authorised carers, by the teacher accompanying your child's group,
assisted by technology staff.
|
|
|
|
|
Accidents at the Technology Centre
Ihe KWNS office staff are qualified first aiders.
In the case of an accident, students are assessed in the classroom and taken to the office if necessary, accompanied by their school's teacher.
KWNS accident procedures are then followed, in consultation with the school's teacher.
